About the treatment
A crown covers a damaged tooth to restore its shape and function. A bridge replaces one or more teeth using neighbouring teeth for support. Trita Dent offers zirconia crowns: ceramic restorations without a metal framework, customised in shape and shade. Material selection considers the area of the mouth, remaining tooth structure and bite forces.
When might it be considered?
They may be considered for damaged or missing teeth. Your dentist checks roots, gums and supporting teeth to decide whether this approach is suitable.
How is treatment planned?
The root, gums and remaining tooth structure are examined first. Decay is treated and the tooth is prepared for a crown, with a temporary restoration when needed. At Trita Dent, digital impressions and CAD/CAM technology support the design of zirconia crowns. The laboratory produces the restoration in the selected shape and shade. Its margins, contacts with neighbouring teeth and bite are checked at the fitting appointment before the crown or bridge is secured.
Aftercare and limitations
Cleaning around margins and beneath a bridge is important. Sensitivity, fractures or further tooth treatment may occur. Restorations need monitoring and may eventually need replacing.
Timing and costs
Your plan and quotation are determined after examination. Complexity, materials, preliminary treatment and follow-up visits affect timing and cost. Ask for a written plan explaining what is included.

Does every damaged tooth need a crown?
No. Remaining tooth structure and biting forces determine whether a filling is sufficient or broader coverage is needed.
How is a crown material chosen?
Position, bite, space and the colour of the underlying structure matter. A material name alone does not determine suitability or the result.
Does a crown need maintenance?
Yes. Its margins and the gums need cleaning; the tooth beneath can still develop decay. Bite changes or loosening need review.
